Events & Capacity Building
Empowering the renewable energy sector through knowledge sharing, professional training, and collaborative events.

Vast Renewable Energy Resources
Ethiopia is endowed with vast renewable energy resources. Current share of installed capacity by source are: Hydro 5,220.30 MW, Wind 404 MW, Geothermal 7.3 MW, Bio mass 25 MW. By the end of 2030, the generation capacity will triple the current generation up to 17,500 MW. The nation actively exports electricity to Djibouti, Sudan, and Kenya, establishing regional energy leadership through strategic infrastructure development.
Hydropower Capacity
Current installed capacity: 5,220.30 MW. Ethiopia's hydropower potential continues to drive sustainable energy development with large-scale projects contributing to the national grid.
15+ GW Geothermal Potential
Untapped geothermal energy with rich resources. Reference projects like Aluto Langano - harnessing Earth's natural heat from the ground with heavy steam clouds. Ready for large-scale development and investment.
Abundant Solar Energy
Extensive solar resources with year-round sunshine potential across Ethiopia. Ideal for both utility-scale and distributed solar applications.
Wind Resources
Rich wind energy potential across multiple regions. Significant wind power projects contributing to Ethiopia's renewable energy mix.
Regional Power Export
Ethiopia exports electricity to Djibouti, Sudan, and Kenya - demonstrating regional energy leadership and infrastructure development.
Ethiopia's 15+ GW Geothermal Potential
Ethiopia's geothermal energy resources are among the most promising in Africa. The East African Rift provides extensive untapped geothermal potential, with heavy steam clouds rising from the Earth's natural heat sources—visible evidence of the immense energy stored beneath the ground.
Aluto Langano Geothermal Project
One of Ethiopia's key geothermal references, Aluto Langano demonstrates the visible power of geothermal steam rising from ground vents—heavy white clouds that represent clean, renewable energy literally emerging from the Earth's core.
